        My Window:

A Road on the Olympic Peninsula

Another morning of frost divides

the grass into file blades.  Nothing moves

but the scene across the windows.

In the car's greenhouse air, while I wonder

if I'll want figures of speech,

my eyes keep snagging as on silk.

I wish we could stop.

Now two shaggy ponies; the cold

dusts their gaze.
